Copalinga Reserve

Copalinga, a 370-acre private reserve on the eastern slope of Ecuador’s Andes, is owned and managed by the Ecuadorian NFP Jocotoco Foundation.

Adjacent to Podocarpus National Park, it is home to impressive plant diversity (over 1,000 species) as well as 420 bird species—including more than 30 species of hummingbird.

Primarily a birding destination (endorsed by the American Bird Conservancy), Copalinga also provides habitat to animals like Puma, deer, fox, Mountain Tapirs, and Spectacled Bears.

Accommodations are either in the reserve’s shared dormitory-style housing with bunk beds and a shared bathroom, or in one of the six small cabins with private bathrooms.
