After spending four months backpacking through Central America, I can say from experience that meeting people while traveling can look very different depending on your stage of life. As someone who is single and in my mid-30s, I’ve found it can sometimes be a bit more challenging to meet people on the road. Autofocus systems, burst speeds, and megapixels all matter — especially when you’re tracking fast-moving animals or birds in flight. But after spending years photographing wildlife and landscapes, I’ve found that the lenses you choose usually matters even more than the camera body.
There are several Nikon bodies to select from that can get the job done, but today I’ll focus on the three I’ve had the priviledge of using myself as I will be able to speak more closely to them. The Nikon Z9, Z6 II, and Z5. This will allow you to see a wide range of the Z-series that Nikon has to offer.
Hiking Acatenango and Volcán de Fuego is an incredible experience. It truly is everything and more than it already is hyped up to be. It’s a must do when stopping in Antigua, Guatemala (or any other town nearby), so make sure to block off a couple extra days to give yourself a proper window for making the attempt.
I do say “attempt” intentionally though, as the hike is quite steep most of the way, making it challenging and strenuous for most. If hiking isn’t your usual activity of choice, then acclimating to the elevation, staying hydrating and doing some smaller hikes in advance are all good ways to prepare for it, as I will discuss further later on.
